Frederick A. Walters, 63, Coleraine, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in his home with his children by his side.
Born January 19, 1954 in Grand Rapids, he was the son of Alfred “Sarge” and Anna (Peters) Walters.  Fred lived most of his life in Coleraine and was a 1972 graduate of Greenway High School.  He had worked for U.S. Steel, was a diesel mechanic at Ziegler, Inc., a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Assn., was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed stock car racing and flying powered parachutes.
His father, Alfred “Sarge” Walters and his mother, Anna Richards preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Jason (Kristi) Walters of Rogers, MN and Stacey (Gayle) Okerson-Walters of Nashwauk; grandchildren, Samantha Walters, Madelyn Walters, Kaylie Conlin, Shelby Walters, and Ryan Hvinden; and a sister, Carol Ann (Elmer) Purdy of Bovey.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.

I'm sorry to hear of Fred's death. Not only were we "Coleraine-e-ites," but I also worked at Minntac and saw him there. He was always friendly (even though he was one of my foremen at work) and we shared a lot of laughs.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not get to interact a great deal with Fred but when I did, he was always very kind and sweet. All of us here at the Lodge are saddened by his loss.
