Wendla "Wendy" Joy (Mackey) Shevich

     Wendla ”Wendy” J.  Shevich, 77, Calumet, died Monday, October 23, 2023, in the St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud.

     Born September 3, 1946, in Grand Rapids, she was the daughter of Chester and Mae (Ruska) Mackey.  A lifelong resident of Itasca County, she was a 1964 graduate of Greenway High School.  Wendy and Sam Shevich were married on July 2, 1966, in Pengilly.  Wendy had been a bank teller, had served as the Calumet City Treasurer for many years,  and volunteered at the Calumet Library with her therapy dog Abby.

     Her parents, Chester and Mae Mackey; her husband, Sam; and her brothers, Jerald and Timothy Mackey preceded her  in death.

     Survivors include her sons, David (Carrie) Shevich and Darin (Cindy) Shevich; grandsons, Brandon (Josie) Shevich, Brett (Maggie) Shevich, Cody Shevich, and Kyle Shevich; great grandchildren, James and Neveah; siblings, Jeanette Stish and Billy (Dalyce) Mackey; sisters-in-law, Rosalie and Paula; her partner of 16 years, Tom Anzelc; Tom’s daughters, Meghan, Erin, and Tracy, and Tom’s six grandchildren.

     Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the Bethany Lutheran Church, Deer River.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
