Theresa Gareri Obituary

A light went out in Bovey when God took Theresa Gareri home 4 days before her 100th birthday. Teresina Francesca Ariganello was born in Chiaravalle Italy on June 27,1926 to Domenic Ariganello and Maria Nocita. After WWII, she came to America for a “better life” in January 1948 to be the bride of an arranged groom. After she rejected him, she met the love of her life, Joseph Gareri and married. Together they raised 4 children and ran Mazzo’s Bar in Bovey for many years. Not only could you get a drink at the bar, but Theresa would often offer a meal to anyone who was hungry. After Joe’s death in 1992 she moved from the bar and purchased her own house in Bovey, where she lived out her days in the home she loved. Theresa enjoyed cooking, gardening and sitting in her screen porch enjoying the birds, rabbits, outdoors and watching her son maintain the yard. She loved visiting with friends and always had the coffee on and a snack to enjoy for anyone who stopped by. Theresa enjoyed her family, friends and going to the casino.  She was an avid seamstress and loved to knit and crochet. She was a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and CCW where she volunteered and made hundreds of layettes and quilts to send to needy children. She was an active member of the Bovey Senior Center and took pride in the Bovey Farmer’s Day celebration cooking and preparing to feed anyone who dropped by her house on that day.

Preceding her in death were her parents and the grandmother and aunt that raised her. Her husband, Joseph Gareri, daughter Donna Clemetti of Bovey and JoJo her beloved cockatiel of 33 years.

She leaves a legacy of family to live on with her memories. Daughters Joanne (Richard) Kingston, Tina (Scott) Glorvigen, and son James (Cindy) Gareri.  Grandchildren Dina (Travis) Roush, Patrick (Marion Ligon) Kingston, Kari (Brian) Buffetta, Anthony Gareri, Michael (Jonee Vance) Gareri, Lauren (Tony) Johnson, Adam (Taylor) Glorvigen, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of people and friends that she shared a meal with around her kitchen table.
