Terry Rosati Obituary

Terry Louise Rosati passed away peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Cedar Ridge Place Senior Living in St. Louis Park, MN after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

She was born February 23, 1961 in Hibbing, MN. She was the daughter of Anna Rosati, Maple Plain, MN and the late Richard Rosati, Two Harbors, MN.

Terry was a 1979 graduate of Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1986 and completed her Master of Science Degree in Communications Management from St. Cloud State University in 1997.

Most recently, Terry was a substitute teacher in the Rockford, MN school district. Terry also taught at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX and was an adjunct professor at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, MN.  Prior to becoming an educator Terry was a news anchor at several radio stations throughout Minnesota and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  With great fondness and much pride, Terry often recalled her years in journalism, especially the eight years spent early in her broadcast career in the news anchor chair at KSSK/KULA radio station in Honolulu, HI. On assignment covering the Pro Bowl, Terry was one of the first female reporters to be allowed in an NFL locker room!

Diagnosed with bipolar disorder as a young adult, Terry channeled her difficulties by supporting and advocating for individuals battling mental illness through her involvement with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). She worked very hard to not let her illness limit or define her and took great pride in not only supporting but also inspiring others living with mental health challenges. Volunteering time at the RiverWorks Food Shelf of Rockford brought Terry much joy as she had great care and compassion, especially for those with challenges.  A voracious reader of world history, Terry also relished Arthurian Legends and Greek Mythology. From a young age, she was a huge football fan, always cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings–it's no surprise why her absolute favorite color was purple. Terry valued spending time with her mother, siblings and with friends, and she was a very proud Godparent to her nieces, Sydney and Annika.

Terry was preceded in death by her father, Richard, and stepmother, Mary Rosati. She is survived by her mother, Anna Rosati, Maple Plain, MN; older sister, Mary K. (David) Bacharach, Alpine, NY; her two younger sisters, Linda (Tom) Peterson, Cohasset, MN; and Justine “Missy” (Kurt) Shaeffer, Mesa, AZ, her two younger brothers, Bill (Heidi) Rosati, Loretto, MN; and  Rick (Shannon) Rosati, Hopkins, MN.  Terry is survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.

Terry’s family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Cedar Ridge Place and Brighton Hospice for the loving care she received over the last months of her life. You are angels on earth. God bless you!
