Steve Hecomovich, 95, lifelong Itasca County resident, died Friday, May 25, 2018 in Evergreen Terrace, Grand Rapids.
Born March 29, 1923 in Taconite, he was the son of Steve and Manda Hecomovich. Steve was a 1942 graduate of Greenway High School, lived most of his life in the Lawrence Lake Area, and had retired from U.S. Steel. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, and was a recipient of two Bronze Stars.
His parents; his wife, Lillian; step-daughters, Linda Peterson and Joan Kujala and his siblings, John, Mark, Mike, Robert, and George Hecomovich, Martin Heck, Joe Harlan, Katie Prestidge, Rose Radick, Ann Rachke, and Mary Hecomovich preceded him in death.
Steve is survived by a step-daughter, Gail (Jerry) Ruuhela of Bovey, 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, June 15, 2018 in the Bethel - Trinity Lutheran Church, Bovey. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
