Sharon A. Forconi, 80 of Bovey, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the Fairview Medical Center in Hibbing.
Born June 13, 1944, in Bagley, MN, she was the daughter of George and Mabel (Carlson) Bibich. She grew up in Bovey and graduated from Greenway High School in 1962. After high school, she attended Itasca Community College for two years, transferring to University of Minnesota – Duluth, where she obtained a teaching degree in Business and Economics. While at UMD, she met Ed. On August 19, 1967, after graduating from college, they married and settled in Bovey.
Sharon was an instructor at ICC for 33 years. During this time, she made a huge impact, becoming a mentor for many of her students; many of these relationships lasted her entire lifetime.
Her number one love was her family. She loved sports, particularly if she could cheer on one of her kids – especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors, going on many hunting and fishing trips over the years, with family and friends. Another passion was cooking. Whether it was canning, smoking meats, or making traditional Serbian/Croatian or Italian dishes, Sharon and Ed took pleasure in feeding a crowd. Additionally, she made sure to pass this love of cooking onto her kids.
Survivors include her husband Ed, her children; Vicky (Bryan Hanson) Forconi Hanson, Angie (Rian Prigge) Forconi and Mike (Melissa) Forconi and 2 grandsons; Sammy and Louie Forconi, and a sister; Shirley (Chuck) Gillman, and many great lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
There will be a visitation from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 PM Funeral Service on Friday, March 7, 2025 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon in the Bovey Village Hall immediately following the service.
