Sergio S. Phillips

Sergio S. Phillips, 58, Coleraine, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids.

          Born August 5, 1961 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Sidney Phillips and Edna McAllister.  Sergio had been a resident of Minneapolis for 25 years and a Coleraine resident for the past six years.  He attended Hyde Park Career Academy and North Hennepin Community College.  Sergio and Kimberly Eilertson were married on August 31, 1991 in Grand Rapids.  He had been a security guard for Children’s and United Hospitals in St. Paul, MN.  Staying true to his Chicago roots, Sergio was an avid Bulls and Bears fan.

His parents and a brother Shawn Phillips preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly; children, Marques of Grand Rapids, and Megan and Isaiah, both of Coleraine; siblings, Kim Sturm of Chicago and Kip Sturm of New York, NY; his stepfather, Ken Sturm of Chicago; and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tracie and Scott MacDowell of Grand Rapids.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the Nyberg Center, Coleraine.  Arrangements are by the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
