Ruth M. (Mattfeld) Dotlich

Ruth M. Dotlich, 91, longtime Bovey resident died Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Home & Comfort, Coleraine.

Born November 17, 1931, in Perham, MN, she was the daughter of Edward and Martha (Schultz) Mattfeld.   Ruth attended Greenway schools and lived most of her life in Bovey.  Ruth and George Dotlich were married on August 21, 1948, in Bovey.  She had been a waitress for the Palm Garden and the Hillside Café in Bovey.  Ruth was a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Bovey and was “Grandma Ruth” to many of the children of Bovey.

Her parents, Edward and Martha Mattfeld; her husband, George; and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Ramona Smeltzer, Sharon (Doug) Gilbertson, and Dan Dotlich; grandchildren, Lisa (Rick), Tonia (Aaron), Nicole (Jesse), and Matt; great grandchildren, Alex, Brandi (Tyler), and Madison; siblings, Jeanette Vail and Kenneth Mattfeld; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Home and Comfort for their excellent care.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Monday, June 26, 2023, in the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church of Bovey.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
