Roswitha "Sugar" K. (Bowman) Thoennes

                   Roswitha “Sugar” K. Thoennes, 69, Bovey, died Monday, July 7, 2025, in the Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

          Born February 5, 1956, in Bamberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Lewie Bowman and Helga (Barth) Cerutti.  Sugar grew up in the Lawrence Lake area, attended Greenway schools, and lived most of her life in Itasca County.

          Her parents, Helga Cerutti and Lewie Bowman and her former husband, Randy Thoennes preceded her in death.

          Survivors include her children, Brian (Angie) Thoennes, Corey (Cassie) Thoennes, Heidi Thoennes, and Tabitha Thoennes; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and siblings, John (Lynn) Bowman, Dale Bowman, Norma Malcolm, and Lewie (Rodney) Bowman.

          There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Lawrence Town Hall.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine at a later date.

          Arrangements are with the Peterson Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services of Coleraine.
