Rodney McNamar, Sr., 74, rural Pengilly, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, in the Range Regional Health Services, Hibbing.
Born July 8, 1951, in Ada, MN, he was the son of Harry and Joyce (Rasmusson) McNamar. A lifelong resident of Itasca County, he was a 1970 graduate of Nashwauk High School, a U.S. Army Veteran having served in South Korea, was a member and Quartermaster of the Marinoff – Miskovich V.F.W. Post 8831 of Pengilly, and a dedicated equipment operator in the iron ore mines of Minnesota for over 45 years.
His loving parents, Harry and Joyce McNamar and a brother-in-law, Conrad “Sonny” Orazem preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two boys, Rodney (Amy) McNamar, Jr., Kristopher (Kelly) McNamar, and daughter, Tracy McNamar and his former wife, Barbara. His grandchildren, Ashtin (Kyle), Mya, Daniel, Anthony, Gavin, Jace, Max, Preston, Grant, Quincy, Donovan and a great grandchild, Sky. His sisters, Candise Orazem, Dwan (Charlie) Craven, and Diane (Gary) Rutherford.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM till 5:30 PM in the Triumphant Life Church, 1307 Autumn Lane, Bovey, MN.
