Richard “Jekyll” Bellefy, 67, Taconite, Died Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Essentia Health, Deer River.
Born October 8, 1956, in Grand Rapids, he was the son of Wallace R. and Elinor L. (Kaisto) Bellefy. Richard lived most of his life in Taconite and was a 1976 graduate of Greenway high school. A carpenter by trade, he had worked for the city of Taconite, did construction work in Texas and Oklahoma, moved home and worked for Salisbury Brothers Construction for over 20 years, and then worked for the Natural Resources Research Institute Coleraine for 10 years until his retirement. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, collecting maple syrup, cornhole, hunting (especially grouse), trap shooting, playing cards and Bingo, and watching the Wild and the Twins. He was a very meticulous carpenter, everything had to be precise. He helped everyone he could. Richard and Jill Olson were married on October 7, 1989, in Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Nora; brothers, Ronald and Michael; and a niece, Faith Miltich.
Survivors include his wife, Jill; daughters, Paige (Derek) Bruyere and Katy (Quinton) Chervinko; brothers, Scott and Chris (Erin) Bellefy; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, May 24, 2024, in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Coleraine.
