Norma K. (Severson) Chalberg

Norma K. Chalberg, 93, Grand Rapids, died Monday, June 23, 2025, in Brookstone Manor, Grand Rapids.

    Born May 10, 1932, in Warroad, MN, she was the daughter of Norman and Ida (Houtari) Severson.  Norma lived in Warroad until 1955 when she and her husband moved to the Iron Range.  They raised five children and when the youngest started school, she began working in the Itasca DAC, retiring with 37 years of service.  She married LeRoy Chalberg in 1997.  Norma was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids, the Looney Tunes, and was a Rusty Hinges water instructor for the YMCA.  Norma loved her family, and the time spent with them, her church, music, and sitting outside in the sun!

    Her parents; her husband, LeRoy, and five siblings preceded her in death.

   Survivors include her children; Eileen (Mike) Hilla, Pat (Ollie) Ollila, Tim (Lynda) Cass, Mark (Anna) Cass, and Kevin (Barb) Cass; step-son, Randy (Bonnie) Chalberg; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; siblings, Richard (Joyce) Severson and Joyce Wright; brother-in-law, David Jones; and sister-in-law, Jane Severson.

   Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, August 16, 2025, in the First Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids.  Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
