Michael Lee Domish, ‘Mikey’ grew up in Coleraine Minnesota with his sisters and his parents in a culture that fostered his love of nature and family. The outdoors became a core part of who he was. He shared this part of himself with everyone. He taught his daughters how to fish, camp, and cultivate their own love of nature. He spent a lot of his early fatherhood bringing his two daughters on adventures in Northern Minnesota, across the Black Hills, the Badlands, out eastward toward Maine, and across the border to the family’s most beloved place: Rainy Lake in
Ontario Canada. Each year the family would gather to create meaningful memories and share times together that will be cherished forever.
Mike shared his joy of life through jamming to rock and roll, going to the zoo with his daughters, washing down his sunflower seeds with a cold Pepsi, and spending his best days on a fishing boat in the middle of a lake. His greatest joy was goofing off and being absolutely silly with his daughters. He has left them with cherished and joyful memories of their childhood. Mike marched to the beat of his own drum and bent the rules just enough to amuse himself and the rest of his loved ones. Mike was an extraordinary breath of fresh air and was carefree and playful down to his core. He was an incredible and special man, no one was quite like Mike.
Mike was loved by many through his years of teaching. He spent the majority of his adult life educating elementary students in the Lakeville and Bemidji areas. His love for his students and the relationships that he built with them came naturally to Mike and was one of his greatest strengths.
Mikey’s kind and giving heart continues to live on through the positive impacts he made on those around him, and his memory will never fade.
