Obituary Information
Melvin Otto Borth, 93 of Coleraine, formerly of Trout Lake, MN, died on March 20, 2012 at Home & Comfort in Coleraine, MN.
He was born on June 5, 1918 in Evergreen, MN he was the son of William and Josephine (Polzin) Borth. He was a self-employed stone mason. He also worked at Oliver Mining Company, logging, Borth’s Cabinetry and Blandin Paper Company. He married Joan Taylor on November 19, 1947 in Bovey, MN. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with the 40th Engineers. His war service started in North Africa then to Sicily, Italy, France, Germany and ended in England where he met his future wife, Joan Taylor. He was also a lifelong member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his children: Kevin (Carole) Borth, Robin (Janet) Borth and Jo-Ellen Borth all of Trout Lake, MN. Grandchildren: Thomas, William, Nathan and Amanda Jo Borth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joan in 2003, his parents, and three sisters; Caroline Poole, Darlene Anderson and Ruby Borth.
Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service on Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Bovey. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
