Marcella Ann (Decoster) Davis

          Marcella A. Davis, 79, longtime Lawrence Lake area resident, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 in the Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids.

          Born July 21, 1940 in Taconite, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Marcella (Decoster) Hoey.  Marcella grew up and was raised in Taconite by her adoptive parents, Lucian and Frances (LeClair) Decoster.  She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church of Nashwauk and was a 1958 graduate of Greenway High School.  Marcella had been a beautician, enjoyed working in her yard and garden, and loved having her family around.

          Her parents, Ambrose and Marcella Hoey; her adoptive parents, Lucian and Frances Decoster; her son, James; siblings, Edward Hoey, Anita (Bill) Johnson, Marie (Ron) Haynes, Lorraine (Bude) Fondurulia; brother-in-law, Ron Carpenter; and sister-in-law, Janice Hoey preceded her in death.

          Survivors include her children, Dave (Bonnie) Shafer of LaPrairie, Lori (Nate) Salisbury of Grand Rapids, Bill Shafer and Beth Mandich, both of Lawrence Lake, and Joe (Donna) Shafer of Montreal, WI; grandchildren, Melissa, Holly, Jessica, Jason, Dereck, Ashley, Josh, Kim, Jeff, Jessica, Mackenzie, and Beau; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; siblings, Richard (Patricia) Decoster of Taconite, Lucian Hoey of Pengilly, Jean (Richard) Grobove of Lawrence Lake, and Frances Carpenter of Aurora, MN; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hoey of Taconite.

          Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
