Lowell R. “Ookie” Hansen, 68 of Coleraine, died on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in the Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids.
Born on July 7, 1951 in Grand Rapids, MN he was the son of Adolph and Hilda (Carlson) Hansen. He grew up in Coleraine, graduated from the Greenway High School, attended Itasca Community College and later worked as a laborer for Hibbing Taconite, retiring in 2007. On February 4, 1989 he married Susanne “Scholz” Helmbrecht in the Bovey Lutheran Church. He was a member of the AAD Temple Shrine in Duluth, he loved to golf, fish, and enjoyed the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and his friends at the Locker Room.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; Susanne Hansen of Coleraine; Daughter; Rhonda (Tim) Trefethren of Coon Rapids, MN, and his two grandsons that he loved very much; Jeramy and Shaye, a brother; Matt (Sharon) Hansen of Minneapolis, MN, a niece; Caroline (Kevin) Springer and a nephew; Scott Hansen both of Minneapolis, MN.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1:00PM-2:30 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine
There will be a time of fellowship and luncheon in the Locker Room, immediately following the service.
