Lloyd C. Cogswell age 90 of Taconite, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at his home with family by his side. He was born September 18, 1929 in Harvey, IL to Hobert and Della Mae (Padgett) Cogswell. Lloyd was a 53 year resident of Taconite. He enlisted in the Army at a young age, serving in WWII and Korea. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952, following his discharge from the Army he joined the Air Force where he served for a number of years and was honorably discharged in 1966, Lloyd then served in the Army National Guard retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Taconite American Legion Post 301 and Triumphant Life Church in Bovey. Lloyd enjoyed taking his grandkids and extended family hunting and fishing. He liked camping, attending greenway hockey games and going to the casino. Lloyd was a licensed Ham radio operator and enjoyed working on and restoring Honda Trail series motor bikes. Lloyd always liked having coffee with the “guys”. Lloyd will also be remembered for being a father figure to many kids in the Greenway area, the Cogsie van was always full! He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Della Mae, siblings, Geraldine Estes, Richard Cogswell, children, Robert and an infant daughter. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dianna Cogswell, children, Letty (Jim) Gould, Gregg (Valentyna) Cogswell, Doug (Shanna) Cogswell, Cindy (Gary) Curtis, Kelly (Jeff) Groshong, siblings, Mona King, Clara (Walter) Zapchenk, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his second wife Jeanette Troumbly. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Peterson Funeral Chapel in Coleraine. Private family burial will take place later at Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine.
