LeRoy F. Flug, Jr., 84, rural Goodland, died Friday, June 7, 2024, in Essential Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.
Born October 2, 1939, in St. Paul, he was the son of LeRoy F. Flug, Sr. and Evalynne (Ross) Cheney. Roy lived most of his life in Itasca County, was a 1957 graduate of Greenway High School, had been a diesel mechanic for J. & L. Mining Company, and was an avid collector. Roy and Diane Shofner were married on March 17, 1956, in Grand Rapids.
His son, Roy; two grandsons, Nicholas Peterson and Richard Flier; his parents, LeRoy Flug, Sr. and Evalynne Cheney; his grandparents, Jasper and Mable Garland, sons-in-law, Craig Meneley and Jeffrey Barker; and three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughters, Rene (Alan) Brownlee, Natalie Meneley, Cheryl (Mike) Peterson, and Evelyn Barker; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert Sapan; five siblings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, June 15, 2024, in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
