Katie C. (Bunes) Demars

Katie C. Demars, 88 of Deer River, formerly of Balsam, died on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in the Homestead Nursing Home in Deer River.

          Born on May 6, 1935, she was the daughter of Jeffery and Blanche (Woosley) Bunes.  She married George “Ole” Demars on June 20, 1954, in Balsam.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, and was a caregiver that loved her family very much.

          Survivors include her daughters; Sheri (Mike) Wojcik of Hiawassee, GA and Barb (Wayne) Stoltz of Balsam, MN.  A sister-in-law Cheryl Bunes of Lawrence Lake, 6 Grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

          She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Ole” (George) in 2000, an infant son Allen, and 2 brothers: Jim and Mike Bunes.

          Funeral Services will be at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in the Balsam Bible Chapel.  Interment will be in the Balsam Cemetery.
