Joan M. Shevich, 83, rural Nashwauk, died Friday, February 9, 2024, St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth.
Born March 7, 1940, in Nashwauk, she was the daughter of Frank and Edna (Fraederich) Gangl. Joan lived most of her life in rural Nashwauk and aside from being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church of Nashwauk and had been a school bus driver in the Nashwauk area for over 25 years. Joan and Robert Shevich were married on January 24, 1959, in Nashwauk.
Her parents, Frank and Edna Gangl and siblings, Betty Marsh, Noreen Bemrose, and Jerome Gangl preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; children, Mike (Nancy) Shevich, Greg (Amy Baumchen) Shevich, Jan (Mike) Edman, and Lisa (Henry) Meyers; grandchildren, Matt Shevich, Rob Shevich, Bethany Goshtasbi, Jake Shevich, Michael Edman, Eric Edman, Jonathan Meyers, Zach Meyers, and Michael Cuadra; ten great grandchildren; and siblings, Dan Gangl, Frank (Sue) Gangl, and Donna Mae (Jack) Tomashek.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Nashwauk. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine with a luncheon to follow at MJ’s Lodge and Resort.
