2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hibbing on March 18,
1960, to Walfred and Marlys (Karppi) Larson. Jerry grew up in Marble, MN,
and went to Greenway High School, graduating with the class of 1978. He
started working with the Department of Natural Resources right after school and
was with them for close to thirty-five years, retiring at age fifty-five. During that
time, Jerry was also the fire chief at the Calumet Fire Hall for many years. In
2011, Jerry decided to start moving into the home of who would later become his
wife, Peggy. They were married on July 6th, 2019. Jerry was extremely handy
and fixed and updated their house and yard throughout the years. He was an avid
nascar lover. He had a green thumb as he loved to garden whatever he could
outside while also having all of his houseplants inside. He loved to fish and
spent many hours antiquing. One of his favorite things was riding his Harley and
getting suited up in his leather gear. Above all else, he adored his family and
especially his grandkids and being at home cruising around in his souped-up golf
cart. Jerry was lucky to have his best buddies; Pickles, Roger, Sparky, Crubba,
Balls, and Fred who visited with him weekly. Jerry battled cancer for nearly five
