Jennifer F. (Haines) Skaar

Jennifer F. Skaar, 60, Coleraine, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, in Duluth.

Born January 30, 1963, in Duluth, she was the daughter of James and Marian (Criswell) Haines.  Jennifer was a 1981 graduate of Bismark, ND high school, 1985 graduate of Moorhead State University and the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.  She did her student teaching in London, England.  Jennifer came to Christ on December 13, 1988.   Jennifer and Gordon “Gordy” Skaar were married in Pine City, MN on December 18, 1993.  She had been a resident of Coleraine since 1996,  had been a special education teacher, and home schooled all of her children.  She was a very active volunteer and had been involved with the Cotton Park project in Coleraine and the Itasca County 4-H.  She enjoyed tutoring at the Great Minds Learning Center, cleaning at the Air B & B, and canning.  She was very proud of her children.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Haines.

Survivors include her husband, Gordy; children, Benjamin (Kylie) Skaar, Evan, Sam, Gordon, and Merrith Skaar; a grandbaby, Eden, on the way; her mother, Marian “Cris” Haines; siblings, Crystal (Ron) Reule, Carolyn (Brad) Belk, Peter (Sarah) Haines, and Susan (Bob) Hylland; a special friend, Lisa Maasch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 Noon funeral service on Monday, November 13, 2023, in the New Song Alliance Church, Grand Rapids.
