Howard Hill, Sr

          Howard “Sparky” Hill Sr., 93 longtime Bovey resident died Friday, June 2, 2023 at home in Bovey.  Howard was born April 5, 1930 to Ira and Alice (Svoboda) Hill in Brocket, ND.  After high school, Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  He later would work as the Head Service Manager for Johnson’s Chevrolet Garage in Nashwauk, MN, and followed them to work in the Silica location later on.  Eventually Howard would retire from Hibbing Taconite as a Maintenance Mechanic as his most recent occupation. Howard was a man that could not sit still.   He loved fishing, working on cars, finding any project that required attention, hunting, and drinking his morning coffee.  He loved his family very much.

          Howard is survived by his love of 40 plus years, Debbie Stockwell, Bovey, MN, children, Mickey (Denise) Hill, Nashwauk, MN, Mark (Renee) Hill, Hibbing, Joalyn (Rusty) Rookey, Lake Havasu City, AZ, and Jeremy Stockwell, Keewatin, MN, sister, Katherine “Kay” Hill-Steven, Kansas City, KS, grandchildren, Kary, Cami, Chad, Tiffany, Mickey Jr., Damien, Jessie, Haley, Travis, Joshua, Jeremy Stockwell Jr., Rebecca (Triston) Zaudtke, William Stockwell, Starr Stockwell, and Leann Stockwell, his great-grandchildren, Solluxander and Ayra and many, many more, along with his numerous nieces and nephews.

          He was preceded in death by his son Howard Hill Jr., parents, Ira and Alice (Svoboda) Hill, three sisters, Doris, Dorothy, and Evelyn, and two brothers, Jim and Claire Hill. 

          Per Howard’s request there will be no services at this time.  Arrangements are with the Peterson Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services of Coleraine.
