Grace A. Stephens, 104, longtime Lawrence Lake area resident, died Friday, June 28, 2019 in River Grand Senior Living, Grand Rapids.
Born September 8, 1914, she was the daughter of Gus and Karen (Gjernes) Anderson. Grace was a 1932 graduate of Greenway High School and lived most of her life in the Lawrence Lake area. She was a member of the Lawron Presbyterian Church where she served on several committees and was a Sunday school teacher. She had also served as the Lawrence Township Clerk. Grace and Phillip Stephens were married in 1934.
Her parents; her husband, Phil; her son, Bion; and siblings, Regena, Norma, Alma, Corrine, Gladys, George, Albert, Oscar, and Carl preceded her in death.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Chris (Mickey) Plackner of Lawrence Lake, Dorothy Malouin of Louisiana, Jane Peterson of Waseca, MN, Bucky (Rhonda) Anderson of Calumet, Paul (Punky) Anderson of Lawrence Lake, and Ken Anderson of Cloquet, MN; a daughter-in-law, Alice Stephens of Andover, MN and a “special daughter” Joan (Paul Shephard) Beech of Lawrence Lake.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Monday, July 1, 2019 in the Lawron Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
