Evelyn Mollergren Obituary

          Evelyn (nicknamed Lovey or Evie) LaDoux Mollergren, aged 95, went peacefully to her Lord in Heaven on March 22, 2018.

She was the wife of Frank Mollergren (1920-2004) and they shared many great years together living at Snowball Lake, MN.   Born in Calloway, MN, she was the daughter of MaryJane (Vizenor) & Joseph LaDoux.  Proceeding her in death are her parents and siblings, Lawrence (Lyla) LaDoux, Seattle, WA,

Wilfred (Lenore) LaDoux, Albuquque, NM,  Elizabeth (Gil) Applebee, Ball Club, MN, Gladys (Ed) Merhar, Marble MN and her daughter Mary Jo (Bill) Gresko, Memphis, TN.

She is survived by her sisters Carol (Stan) Simonson of LaPraire, MN and Ramona (Dewey) Nordin, Granbury, TX. and her daughters, Dr. Sally Arlene Hunter (John), St. Paul, MN, Cynthia Ann Atwood, Apple Valley, MN and Lori Kay (Brian) Houwman of Snowball Lake, MN.  Grand children are John A. Hunter, Jason Gresko, Adam Gresko, Matthew Mollergren, Nickolaus Houwman and Mary Jane Houwman.  Great Grandchildren are Mila Hunter, Stella Hunter, Madeline Houwman and Lillian Bos.

She graduated from Greenway High School in 1940 and married Frank in 1941.  While Frank was gone with World War II, She worked at the Pengilly dept. store, Oja’s, and then later worked as a waitress at Sugar Hills ski area.  Continuing her education she become a dental assistant working in Grand Rapids, MN and then a dental assistant teacher at the Hibbing Vo-tech for 12 years.  Knowing the importance of education, she encouraged her family to continue learning all their lives.

She belonged to the St. Mary’s Catholic church and the women’s CCW in Marble for many years until the church closed the Marble location.  Later in life ( age 90 +) she lived at the Home and Comfort Assisted Living in Coleraine.  Father Seth of the Coleraine Catholic Church served her faith.  She was also a member of the American Dental Association and a member of the White Earth Ojibwe Nation.

Evelyn had a great life (her words) and loved to be with family, to bake, to listen to music, to read, to keep herself fit with walking, cross country skiing and daily exercise.  Her life was filled with family, gourmet cooking, Wild ricing in the fall, collecting berries for jams and sauces and canning all the produce from her garden. 

She will be remembered for her positive outlook, her strength in life and kindness to all.

Funeral service will be held at the Coleraine Catholic Church at 11 am on Tuesday, March 27th.  Following the services there will be a luncheon at the church.

Her interment will be with her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery later this spring.
