Elsie E. Plackner, 94, longtime Itasca County resident, died on Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the Grand Village, Grand Rapids.
Born September 18, 1923 in Ottertail County, MN, she was the daughter of Edward and Martha (Schultz) Mattfeld. Elsie and Carl Plackner were married on April 4, 1944 in Frazee, MN. Elsie was a home maker, a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, and a former member of the Lawron Ladies Aide.
Her parents, Edward and Martha Mattfeld; her husband, Carl; a daughter, Caryl; a grandson, Jeffrey Plackner; and siblings, Alfred, Art, Eddie, and Leonard Mattfeld, Florence Carpenter, and Elaine Bluntach preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, LaVonne Carter of Glenwood, MN, Kathy (Duane) Eck of Bagley, MN, Terry (Shirley) Plackner and Michael (Chris) Plackner, both of Lawrence Lake; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Reuben (Pat) Mattfeld of Hoyt Lakes, Ruth Dotlich of Coleraine, Jeanette (Chuck) Vail of Racine, WI, and Kenny Mattfeld of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, October 13, 2017 in the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Bovey. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
