Charles W. Grell, 79, rural Bovey, died Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth.
Born June 30, 1944, in Denison, IA, he was the son of Alfred and Matilda (Steinkuehler) Grell. He grew up and graduated from high school in Shelton, NE and had been an Itasca County resident for over 50 years. Chuck and Linda L. Grobove were married on June 24, 1977, in Marble. He had been a millwright, was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Germany, and was a member of the Keewatin American Legion Post #452.
His parents, Alfred and Matilda Grell; his wife, Linda; a brother DeWyne; and a brother-in-law, Fred preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children, Catherine (Darrel) Branstner, Kenneth Grell, Stacy (Terry) Tipton, and Aaron (Hope) Tipton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Deb Grell, Darlene Mohr, Phyllis Kaelin, and Richard Grell.
There will be a graveside service with military honors on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the Lakeview Cemetery of Coleraine, followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Calumet Saloon in Calumet.
