Bernice M. (Fortmeyer) Hendrickson

Bernice M. Hendrickson, 90, Coleraine, died Sunday, January 18, 2026, in The Emeralds of Grand Rapids.

          Born April 25, 1935, in St. Paul, she was the daughter of Alfred and Hazel Fortmeyer.  Bernie grew up in St. Paul, was a graduate of Hamlin University and attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.    She had been a Greenway District 316 teacher, starting in Taconite, moving to Coleraine, and most of her years were in the Conner – Jasper school in Bovey where she also taught synchronized swimming.  Bernie had been a member of Jobs Daughters, the Como Park Lutheran Church in St. Paul and the Bethel - Trinity Lutheran Church of Bovey.  Bernie and Arnold Hendrickson were married on December 22, 1984, in St. Paul.

          Her parents, Alfred and Hazel Fortmeyer and a sister, Ruth Horvath preceded her in death.

          Survivors include her husband, Arnie; a niece, Jerilyn Horvath; and a nephew, Joe (Sherry) Horvath.

          Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, January 24, 2026 in the Bethel – Trinity Lutheran Church of Bovey.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Coleraine.
