William Charles “Bill” Fideldy, life-long resident of Trout Lake Township, MN, passed onto his heavenly home January 4, 2020 at the age of 80.
Bill was born in Mason City, Iowa on June 8, 1939 to Ruth Maxine (Gooch) and Ralph John Fideldy. The family moved to northern MN when Bill was 5. He was raised in Trout Lake Township and graduated from Greenway High School in 1958. He had his life altering accident in 1961 when the dead top of a birch tree (widow maker) fell on him and broke his back. He lived a valiant life battling chronic pain and went on to graduate from Dunwoody Technical Institute in 1963 as a machinist. He used these skills for both work and hobby time to build farm buildings for the grand kids and sterling engines.
He married his beloved wife Carol Helene Abercrombie April 25, 1964. Bill and Carol owned and operated Fideldy Drilling with family until 1997 when they retired. Bill was a devoted husband and father. He loved inventing and building things in his shop, especially with his grandchildren. He held a term as the president of the MN Water Well Association and had been a member of Bethel-Trinity Lutheran Church. While at the Garden Court Chateau, he spent many summer days at the Forest History Center, where the staff made him an honorary member.
Bill is remembered by his wife Carol of 55 years; daughters, Cathy (Paul) Moenning and Debbie (Jacob Bush) Fideldy-Bush; grandchildren, Emilie (Noah) Fenske, Timothy, and John Moenning; great grandchildren, Eli and Josie, three brothers and sister-in-laws; Ralph & Amy, James & Louise, and Dennis & Jil. Bill’s nieces and nephews are Kevin & Becky Fideldy, Troy & Emily Fideldy, Tiffany Fideldy & fiancé Jason Reitzel, Ryan (Jennie) Fideldy, Shana & Steve Kongsjord, and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David.
He will be deeply missed my family, friends, his care givers at the Garden Court Chateau, and all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the 2:00 PM celebration of life on Friday, January 10, 2020 in the Bethel-Trinity Lutheran Church, Bovey. Interment will be in the Trout Lake Lakeside Cemetery.
