Wayne Douglas Olson

     Wayne D. Olson, 73, longtime Bovey resident, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids.

     Born October 31, 1945 in Roseau, MN, he was the son of Joel J. and Irene E. (Knochenmus) Olson.  He was a 1963 graduate of Roseau High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Bemidji State University.  Wayne and Robin Olson were married on July 22, 1967 in Duluth.  Wayne was an art and English teacher in the Greenway school district from 1967 to 2002 and taught snowmobile and firearms safety classes.

     Wayne was preceded in death by his father.

     Survivors include his wife, Robin; children, Lowell (Raffaella) Olson of Fairfield, CA, Erik (Laura) Olson of Hibbing, and Kjel (Alan) Rahko of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Annikki, Kaytla, Karolina, Meaghan, Melanie, and Jonas; great grandchildren, Mason and Mikale; his mother, Irene E. Olson of Roseau; siblings, Judy (Duff) Marshal of Roseau, Gail (Doug) McLean of Boise, ID, Jack Olson of Roseau, David (Colleen) Olson of Roseau, Nancy (Tim) Anacabe of Warroad, and Sally Olson of Roseau.

      There will be a time of remembrance at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 25, 2019 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine followed by graveside services in the Trout Lake Lakeside Cemetery.
