Shirley Marshall Obituary

     Shirley M. Marshall, 96, longtime Pengilly resident, died Thursday, August 15, 2019 in the Grand Village, Grand Rapids.

     Born February 24, 1923 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, she was the daughter of Olive Simpson Blaine and raised by her grandparents, Ed and Floss Simpson.  She was a 1941 Greenway High School graduate and a Pengilly resident for over 85 years.  Shirley and F. Vern Marshall were married on August 6, 1944 in Nashwauk.  Shirley was a home maker, a former member of St. Kevin’s Catholic Church of Pengilly, a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Coleraine, and active in many Pengilly community activities including the Marinoff – Miskovich V.F.W. Post 8831 Auxiliary the, P.T.A., the Women’s Club, and the Pengilly 2008 Centennial Committee to name a few.

     Her parents, her husband, Vern in 1990; sons, Pat in 1964 and Tim in 1990; a granddaughter, Sarah Marshall; and siblings, Marie Drumbeater, Kenneth Blaine, Elaine Bagger, Bill Adair, and Sam Adair preceded her in death.

     Survivors include her children, Molly (Dean) Randall of Bovey, Mike (Linda) Marshall of Pengilly, Kathy (David) Prawer of Oakdale, MN, Colleen (Mike) Vaneps of Rochester, MN, Dan (Clo) Marshall of Bovey, and Sue (Greg) Stanich of Stillwater, MN; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and siblings, Clarence Blaine of Grand Rapids, James Blaine of Nashwauk, Doreen (Roger) Rice of Hibbing, Don (Evelyn) Adair, Alice (Ron) Faganello, and Joan (Ralph) Parker, all of British Columbia.

      Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2019 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine and will continue from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 23, 2019 in the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church of Coleraine.  Interment will be  in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
