Neil Senogles Obituary

Neil Senogles, 61, died unexpectedly of natural causes in his sister’s home in Bemidji on Sunday, November 24, 2019.

Neil, an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Ojibwe and a longtime Bovey resident was born on June 28, 1958 in Red Lake, MN to Donald and Margaret (Gurneau) Senogles.  Neil was an excellent athlete and excelled in many sports, especially hockey.  After graduation from Greenway High School in 1977, he continued his hockey career and played his final game dressed in green back at Hodgins-Berardo Arena in June 2019.  As much as he loved playing hockey, he loved watching his great-nephews and his grandchildren play even more.

Neil was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed harvesting wild rice, collecting maple syrup, fishing, hiking and hunting for bear claws and eagle feathers.  He, alongside his son Seth Erickson, became accomplished Foosball players, playing in tournaments throughout the United States.

Neil’s parents, two brothers, Bradley and Leigh Senogles and his beloved dog Eddy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his longtime spouse Iris Senogles; his children, Leah (Justin) Crossley of Grand Rapids, MN, Seth Erickson of Coleraine, Trina Martin of Grand Rapids, MI and Christina (Melvin Shannon) Smith of Coon Rapids, MN; children through marriage, Aaron Stanley, Mandy (Jeff) Adamson, and Tobie (Trina) Stanley; siblings, Renee Gurneau of Bemidji, Gene (Tammy) Senogles of Bovey, and Rochelle (Mitchell) Johnson of Bemidji; and grandchildren, Tommy and Kendall, Nayeli; Lexi, Dylan and Olivia, Kyler and Ezra, Bayley and Burkeley, Jaycie and Tyler.

All are welcome to attend services in Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine on Friday, November 29, 2019.  Visitation at 12:00 p.m., funeral service at 1:00 p.m.  Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine with dinner to follow in the Bovey City Hall.
