Marie McWilliams Obituary

Marie E. McWilliams, 94, long time resident of Calumet and Verde Acres Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Born May 20, 1923 in Akley, MN, she was the daughter of Ray and Grace (Christensen) Watt.  Marie was raised in Grand Rapids and attended Grand Rapids schools.  She worked as a telephone operator and then met and married Russell McWilliams on November 26, 1942.  Marie was a homemaker and a member of the Calumet Community Presbyterian Church. She volunteered for several organizations and served meals at the Senior Citizen’s center.  Marie reported the Mid-Itasca News on WKKQ radio and in the Scenic Range News, and collected for the Duluth News Tribune. She enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
Her parents; husband, Russell; a daughter Judy (Jack) Gillis; and all eight of her siblings preceded her in death.
Survived by her children, Jeanne (Mike) Evanoff of Buhl, Shawn McWilliams of Grand Rapids, Russ McWilliams of Nashwauk, and Mindy (Dave) Klebe of Forest Lake, MN; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Calumet Community Presbyterian Church.  Interment will be in the Nashwauk Cemetery.
