Janice Delene (Nyman) O'Brien

Janice D. O’Brien, 71 of Duluth, died on Monday, February 11, 2019  at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.  She was born July 1, 1947 to John and Jeanette (Jackson) Nyman in Grand Rapids, MN.  Jan was a longtime resident of the Coleraine and Bovey area.  As a social worker, Jan was a strong advocate for people with mental illness.  She was an avid reader, and loved baking for the holidays.

          Jan is survived by her 3 sons; Christopher (Makeesha) O’Brien of Richmond, TX; Erin (Kjirsten) O’Brien of Brooklyn Park, MN; and Rudy (Leslie Semler) O’Brien of Hermantown, MN; 3 Grandchildren; Xander O’Brien, Molly O’Brien, and Kailey O’Brien, Sisters; Mary Hepola of Grand Rapids, MN, and Karen (Rick) Mohagen of Montevideo, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

          As per Jan’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Trout Lake Community Center, 24951 Co. Rd. 10, Bovey, MN.
