James G. Casper, 78, Grand Rapids, MN, formerly of Coleraine, MN, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Grand Rapids. He was born in Grand Rapids on May 16, 1940, the son of Lawrence and Ethel Casper. James grew up in Bovey, MN and after marrying Helen Fondurulia on June 13, 1959, they made their home in Coleraine. James had worked as a meat cutter for various grocery stores for 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and canoeing, but spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and family were his favorite things to do. He was also a member of the Coleraine Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife Helen, his children: Connie (John) Wright of Bovey, Nicholas Casper of Grand Rapids, Christina (Ken Vaudrin) Casper of Grand Rapids and his special daughter Becky (Dan) Peluso of Grand Rapids, his brothers: Larry (Janice) Casper of Eveleth, MN and Richard (Betty) Casper of Ham Lake, MN, 4 grandchildren: Ryan (Sara) Wright, Shaun (Jessica) Wright, Garret (Amanda) Wright and Danica (Justin Barringer) Casper and 9 great grandchildren: Parker, Jaelyn, JT, Camdyn, Peyton, Miley, Sophia, Dijahna and Connor.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ethel.
Visitation will be held in the Peterson Funeral Chapel in Coleraine, MN on Sunday, July 22, 2018 form 4 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 5. Visitation will continue on Monday, in St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Hibbing from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
