Edward K. Sobtzak

Edward K. Sobtzak, 86, Coleraine died Friday February 1, 2019 at Grand Village in Grand Rapids.  He was born in Coleraine to Stephen and Julia (Brzykcy) Sobtzak on July 8, 1932.  Edward was an Army veteran stationed in Washington DC during the Korean War.  He was a retired Industrial Arts Teacher from the Greenway School District and had served on the Coleraine City Council, the Coleraine Fire Dept, and the Itasca Ski and Outing Club. He was also a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church.
Edward is survived by his children, Linda (Scott) Wicklund, Golden Valley, Ken Sobtzak, Roseville, and Dan Sobtzak, Coon Rapids, two sisters, Rosemary Riskevich, Mpls., and Stella (Marvin) Cook, Golden Valley, four grandchildren, Andy and Erik Wicklund, and Abbie and Natalie Sobtzak.  He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2013 and brothers Raphael, George and Richard Sobtzak.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Friday February 8, 2019 in Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Sobolik Celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visitation will be in Peterson Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday February 7, 2019 and continue in Church at noon on Friday. Burial will be  at Lakeview Cemetery in Coleraine at a later date.
