Bernice Irene (Tanner) Seaburg

Bernice I. Seaburg, 90, longtime Calumet resident, died on Friday, January 12, 2018 in the Grand Village, Grand Rapids.
Born December 14, 1927 in Goodridge, MN, she was the daughter of Jesse and Rose (Schenkey) Tanner.  Bernice was a 1945 Greenway High School graduate, had worked at the Grand Rapids Clinic, retiring in 1989 with 15 years of service, was an Avon representative, was a member of the Calumet Community Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women’s Assn., the wonderworker’s Home Extension, Calumet and Greenway Senior Citizens, was a volunteer coordinator of Meals on Wheels and delivered meals for many years.  She had been an active member of the Greenway Snowmobile Club and the Grand Rapids Bowling Assn. Bernice was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veteran of Foreign Wars.  First in Calumet until 1986, then Grand Rapids, and then Post #8510 in Hibbing, where she was treasurer and Poppy chairman.  She was the 8th District President in 1968 – 1969; treasurer for several years, and served in other positions through the years.  Bernice and Dewain D. Seaburg were married on September 2, 1950 in Calumet.
Her parents, Jesse and Rose Tanner; her husband, Dewain; and a brother, Larry Tanner preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Bobbie (Chuck) Cederberg of Prosper, TX, Becky (Dick) Derwort of Payson, AZ, and Daryl (Patti) Seaburg of Calumet; grandchildren, Chad (Sara) Cederberg of McKinney, TX, Sarah (Chad) Jamar of Waco, TX, Rachelle (Dave) Harper of Mesa, AZ, and Seth Derwort of Payson, AZ; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 20, 2018 in the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine.
