Bernice D. Gusse, 97 of Grand Rapids, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017
in the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN.
She was born on December 20, 1919 in Coleraine, MN, the daughter of Walter and Neva (Ellsworth) Powers. She was a lifelong resident of the Coleraine and Grand Rapids areas, graduated from the Greenway High School, and owned and operated the MacTavish Real Estate Company. Bernice and George Gusse were married on July 21, 1942 in South Dakota. She was a private pilot, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved to garden, enjoyed time treating her dogs as children, and had a general love for the outdoors.
Survivors include a daughter; Valerie Ellingworth of Tennessee and a sister; Joyce (Don) Gusse of Grand Rapids, her Grandchildren; Rhonda (Ron) Aronson of Bovey, Jeremy Dormanen of Cohasset, Adrienne (Mike) O’Rourke of Morristown, MN and Amanda (Travis) Schultz of Grand Rapids, 7 Great-grandchildren and 3 Great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, an infant daughter, and nine siblings; Robert, Richard, Ned, Bud, Ethel, Edna, Nina, Helen and Agnus.
At Bernice’s request, there will be no services.
