Agnes T. Hromyak, 92, longtime Coleraine resident, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at her home, Garden Court Chateau, Grand Rapids, MN.
Born on September 11, 1926 in Grand Rapids, MN, she was the daughter of Frank and Esther (Ames) Nix. Agnes lived her childhood years through high school in Bovey and at the Danube Location.
After graduating from high school, she worked for the Coast Guard in Washington, DC during WWII. She worked as a transcriptionist for the Baich Clinic for 22 years.
Agnes married Joseph A. Hromyak on September 12, 1945 in Bovey. They made Bovey their home until moving to Coleraine in 1955.
Agnes was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, CCW, Coleraine Library Board, Birthday Club and Card Club which gathered for 60 years. She also loved visiting, playing bingo, crafts, crocheting and baking, especially Christmas cookies.
Survivors include her children; Jo Anne (Stan) Kosowicz of Minnetonka, David (Juli) Hromyak of Lino Lakes, Yvonne (Richard Bullock) Hromyak of Grand Rapids and Cheryl (Temper) Payne of Coleraine. 5 Grandchildren; James (Eileen) Kosowicz of Minneapolis, Joseph (Erin) Kosowicz of Englewood, CO, John Hromyak of Madison, WI, Nicholas (Jen) Payne of Ramsey and Neal Payne of St. Louis Park, and 6 Great-grandchildren. 2 Sisters; Shirley Swenson, Audrey Hein and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert in 1994, husband, Joseph in 1999, her parents, and infant granddaughter, and brother; Lawrence Nix.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the 12:00 noon Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Coleraine. Private interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Coleraine. Arrangements by the Peterson Funeral Chapel of Coleraine.
