Dorothy Ann (Thorson) Roskos

Dorothy “Dot” (Thorson) Roskos, 87 passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024 at the Garden Court Chateau in Grand Rapids, MN.

Dot was born on March 24, 1937 to Gilford and Florence Thorson in Bear Park Township, Norman County, MN, she was the oldest of nine children. After graduating from Grand Rapids High School, Dot was married to Herman Kossow and raised 3 children; Kathy, Skipper and Scott. The family lived in Washington State for 10 years before moving back home to Minnesota. Dot was well known by many who frequented Kremers Ben Franklin in Grand Rapids, where she worked for many years. In 1995 Dot was married to Andrew Roskos. They were happily married for 25 years, wintering in Arizona.

Dot was very social, loved visiting, attending dances (often played by her husband Andy). Dot was avid sports fan, loved watching her grandson and great-grandson play hockey. Also was a devoted Twins and Vikings fan. Dot never missed an opportunity to attend her monthly Kremers coffee breakfasts, sons of Norway get togethers and family Thorson breakfasts.

Dot is survived by her son; Scott (Mary) Kossow, grandchildren; Heather (Brian) Zirbes, Chris Kossow and Megan Tilton. Great-grandchildren; Aiston and Lennon Kossow, Kyle and Chloe Zirbes. Brothers: Lee (Sue) Thorson, Ben (Gloria) Thorson, sisters; Zella Martin and Joyce (Danny) Warner, sisters-in-law; Judy Thorson and Dolly Clune, and many nieces and nephews.

Dot is preceded in death by her husband; Andrew Roskos, daughter; Kathy Tilton, son; Skipper Kossow, brother; Ray and Ira Thorson, sisters; Gail Hunter and Hazel Nelson, brother-in-law; Scott Martin.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the First Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN. A luncheon will follow the service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Court Chateau for the loving care provided to Dot, along with the staff at St. Croix hospice.
